On the evening of December 6, the recruitment seminar on the selection of the honor students for 2020 was held in the lecture hall on the third floor of the library as scheduled. The heavy and bitter did not stop the enthusiasm of the students. More than 400 freshmen participated in the seminar. Leaders and teachers of Honors School and six student representatives gave presentations.

First of all, Deputy Dean Xu Jing introduced Honors School in detail to the students through four sections: “Entering Zhishan Honors School”, “Knowing Zhishan Honors School “, “Identifying Zhishan Honors School” and “Joining Zhishan Honors School”. Through the introduction of training concept, management mode, education system, resource support, selection conditions and arrangements that students are most concerned about, she demonstrates the characteristics of Honors School to the audience in an all-round and multi-level way.

Next, six student representatives from Honors School shared their study life with their classmates in the aspects of Honors School course, international exchange program, and innovation capacity training project, etc. Cao Yuge talked about the enlightenment and vision formed in Honors School from her personal experience; Chi Jingjing and Zhang Yuran shared their experience of overseas study and exchange, from which they explored new potential and have new mission; Fu Xuerong and other students shared their experience of scientific and technological innovation in Honors School, which is an Interdisciplinary platform of top-notch innovative talents. They express sincere love and gratitude to Honors School. After the seminar, the students were active to ask questions related to the policies and procedures of entering Honors School.

The selection of Honors School students is carried out at the beginning of the spring semester every year. About 180 students are selected from the freshmen of the university and are trained to be top-notch innovative talents. Upholding the motto of “being knowledgeable and thoughtful, being innovative and surpassing oneself”, Honors School constantly innovates the training scheme, optimizes the training mode, improves the training effect, and strives to realize the vision of “academic masters, industrial talents and governing elites”. In recent years, under the background of undergraduate education reform in the new era, based on quality education, Honors School has strengthened the construction of education connotation, enhanced the value guidance of “questioning spirit, social responsibility and self-education” of students, and improved the quality construction of “outstanding leadership, humanistic quality, innovative potential and global view” of students.
